Yunnan Coffee: China’s Arabica Powerhouse

Yunnan Province, in southwestern China, produces over 98–99% of the country’s coffee, making it the nation’s undisputed coffee capital. Often called the “Land of Eternal Spring,” Yunnan’s climate and geography — altitudes between 1,200 and 2,000 meters, fertile soils, and abundant rainfall — create ideal conditions for Arabica cultivation.

Regional Highlights

Lincang: A fast‑growing hub, contributing nearly 20% of Yunnan’s output, with bright, fruity Arabica beans.

Pu’er & Baoshan: Traditional centers of coffee farming, producing balanced cups with chocolate and nutty undertones.

Dehong & Menglian: Smaller districts known for specialty micro‑lots with floral and citrus notes.

Flavor Profile: Yunnan Arabica is typically medium‑bodied, with gentle acidity and flavor notes of red fruit, floral hints, citrus brightness, and chocolate sweetness. Its terroir gives it a distinctive balance, often compared to Latin American origins but with a unique Asian identity.
